Mother's Day and Music in the Park! (Sunday, May 10, 6-8 PM)
Forest Hill's annual summer concert series kicks off on Sunday, May 10, at 6 PM with Los Hermanos Alacranes. Each month between now and October will feature a free Sunday performance in Forest Hill Park, adjacent to the Stone House.
We deeply appreciate the sponsors who help make this annual series possible -- Westover Hills Neighborhood Association, Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association, GrowRVA, and more. Bring your favorite food, beverage, and people -- especially your mother! -- and start your early summer on the right note.
Community Yard Sale (Saturday, June 6, 8AM - 12PM)
It's almost that time! Dozens of households throughout Forest Hill and Woodland Heights host individual yard sales on the first Saturday in June. If you have an attic full of treasures looking for a new home, here's your chance! And it won't cost a dime to join the fun. Next FHNA Meeting -- Tuesday, April 21 (Stone House, 7-8 PM)
On the third Tuesday of each month we gather for updates from our City Councilmember, School Board representative, the Richmond Police Department, and others. At this month's meeting we will hear from the owner of Burn Boot Camp (coming soon to the old Family Dollar space on Westover Hills Boulevard), vote on a $2,500 funding request from the Westover Hills Elementary School PTA, and more. Come get to know your neighbors and share your insights on life in Forest Hill.
Maymont Volunteers Needed
Interested in helping at Maymont? The newly reopened Maymont Mansion is looking for volunteers to help greet guests and give them some history. If interested, please email Kathy Garrett-Cox.
Possible Victim of Deed Fraud?
Richmond Circuit Court Clerk Ed Jewett encourages all city property owners to sign up for the free VA Deed Alert system. For anyone who is registered, the system automatically sends email notifications when a document is recorded in local land records that matches a name or identification number for a property. While this service does not prevent fraud, it creates "an additional layer of awareness" for property owners, according to the clerk. Click here to sign up for this free service.
2026 FHNA Community Service Scholarship
Do you know a graduating high school senior who has made a mark on our neighborhood through volunteer efforts? They may be eligible for Forest Hill's annual $500 Community Service Scholarship. Application deadline is June 1 -- click here for more details and a copy of the application.
City Annual Neighborhood Cleanup Program (May 23, September 26)
Over the next nine months, DPW will visit each 4th District neighborhood on two Saturdays, offering residents opportunities to safely dispose bulk items at no cost. This program is in addition to the regular bulk and brush collection program.
Here are the program details:
Pickup Times: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (light rain or shine - place items outside on Friday night)
Item Placement: wherever your trash is normally placed (curbside or alley)
Items eligible for collection:
Furniture
Mattress
Tires (4 per household)
Appliances
Lawnmowers (remove gasoline)
Carpet
Bulk or brush items (brush must be cut down into
4-foot lengths and bundled)
Items NOT eligible for collection:
Electronics
Construction Debris
Hazardous waste items
Glass
Paint
Dates for Forest Hill collection: May 23, September 26
Recognizing that many residents don't fit neatly into one of the above neighborhoods, DPW has created a Service Finder feature, which allows you to input your specific address to confirm which dates the cleanup program will be in your neighborhood.
